3 P’s of Sustainability for LED Lighting – Part 3

So far we’ve learned all about how people and planet are affected by LED lights at Inspired LED in Part 1 and Part 2 of our blog. In honor of Earth Day today, we will highlight the final P of sustainability that is one of the biggest deciding factors for many people, money or profit. LED lighting is one of the most cost effective options for under cabinet lighting out there. Along with that, Inspired LED offers many discounts, specials and low cost kits that save you even more!

Uses less energy, saves money on energy costs

  • Normal electric lighting burns up to 25% of the average home energy budget. LED lighting uses only  about 0.5 to 2 watts per foot of electricity, so you are constantly saving on energy costs each time LED lighting is used in your house.
  • A great example: A 60-watt incandescent light bulb draws more than $300 worth of electricity per year and provides about 800 lumens of light; an equivalent CFL uses less than 15 watts and costs about $75 of electricity per year. LED bulbs are even better; using less than 2 watts of power per foot, costing about $1.50 per foot per year, and lasting up to 100,000 hours!

Cheaper to purchase than other forms of lighting

  • When LED lights first came out, they were much more expensive than incandescent light bulbs. The price has been dramatically decreasing through the years and today they are very comparable in price to any other lighting option. Inspired LED offers many kits and custom lighting options at a much cheaper price than large wholesalers or distributors. Check out some of our new products!

Save money on replacements

  • LED lights can last up to 10 years, meaning some households may never have to replace them. In fact, the energy used from a single incandescent bulb costs up to 10x the original purchase price of the bulb itself. That’s just like throwing away money.

LED lighting is a very sustainable lighting option and has multiple benefits for the people, our planet and profit. If you’re curious about more sustainable benefits from LED’s, please post your comments or questions below and we will be happy to respond.
