inspired led FAQs

Here at Inspired LED, we are constantly finding ourselves being asked new and exciting questions about our products. From general inquiries about LEDs, to questions about power requirements and product specifications, there is a lot to know about the world of low voltage lighting. Below we take a moment to answer a few of the questions we have received recently. Hopefully we can provide some concise answers to your more common questions, and spread a little knowledge about our products…

soldering flexible led stripQuestion 1: Do I need to know how to solder?

NO! Inspired LED kits, flexible strips and panels all come with female connectors pre-soldered on to each end. We also offer our patented, easy to use Tiger Paw LED solderless connectors in a variety of styles which allow LED flex strips to be modified in field (no soldering iron required!). If you prefer to use our basic plug and play systems with Inspired LED interconnect cables , you can use our Tiger Paw 3.5mm pairs which come with standard female jacks. If you are looking to use existing wire drops or bulk cable, our Tiger Paw screw terminal connectors will allow you to easily terminate any 16-22 AWG wire directly to an LED strip. Of course, on the occasion you did want to do your own soldering for a special project, that’s not a problem! Just be sure to match polarities and use plenty of flux!

Do I need a metal channel or mounting clips to secure my flexible strips?no clips

NO! Inspired LED’s flexible strips come with an adhesive backing, and if properly installed, should stick to almost any surface. Metal mounting channels can be used if desired for certain applications, however clips typically do not work for flexible LED Strips, as they can potentially block the diodes and can even cause damage to delicate resistors.  If you are using an alternative Inspired LED product like our Angle Adjust Tubes or Custom Designer Series Panels, your lights will most likely come with a clip or screw-mount option. Also clips/clamps included with kits are intended for cables not your panels or strips! If you are working with a unique application, and would prefer alternative methods for installing your LED system, be sure to contact our Design Team. We will be happy to work with you to come up with a solution that meets your needs!

What is the warranty for Inspired LED’s products?

Inspired LED guarantee’s  our LED lights for 100,000 running hours. We are one of the only companies who under-power the LEDs by 50%, which allows our diodes to run longer than the industry standard! Failing or defective products are fairly rare, but, if you do happen to experience issues with your lights prior to the anticipated life of the product, we will be happy to work with you to troubleshoot, repair, or replace the defective portion of your system! Often, we find that issues related to installation are easy to solve- it may be something as simple as mismatched polarity or an incompatible part. And when there is a functional problem with a product, it is usually a component such as a power supply or connector which will fail long before the LEDs themselves. No matter what the issue, we stand behind our products 100% and will do whatever is necessary to guarantee customer satisfaction!
